Large X-wing game

So 4 of us decided to throw caution to the wind, and play a large Star Wars X-wing game.

Normally Epic level games are 200 to 300 points per player, on a 6ft x 4ft table space, 1 vs 1.
This is us. We went all in. 400pts per player, 2 vs 2.

It was MANIC, took the whole day, and a bucket load of fun.

We managed 7 turns. Loads of ships blew up. The Huge ships destroyed more by crashing into things that shooting at them.

Huge thanks to Nigel from Battle Bunker Tygervalley for providing venue and consumables. Coffee kept us going.

Turn 0 - start of game deployment:

Turn 1:

 Turn 2:

Turn 3:

Turn 4:

Turn 5:

Turn 6:

Turn 7 - end of game state.

At this point we called it. Imperial victory.

Lessons learnt:
Prepping everything the day before, including ship numbers etc definitely helped.
Plan to have a whole day to do this size game.
The forces were relatively balanced, but next time I suspect the Imperials will take less upgrades and more TIE's. :)

Large Bolt Action game

So we recently played a large Bolt Action game. 4 tables, connected together. 2000pts per side, per table. So effectively an 8000pt vs 8000pt game. :)

Of the tables, it was 3 Axis victory, and 1 draw.

Malifaux

So we've recently started looking at Malifaux. I managed go get some figures second hand - Lady Justice crew - in metal. These are them painted up.

I only realised afterwards that I forgot to do the eyes on the Death Marshall's. I shall remedy that.....

I also made some scheme markers from old Tomb Kings (GW Fantasy) extra bits.

Balsa model plane

Now for something completely different.

When I was a kid, I used to build Balsa Wood and Plastic model planes.
I had most of Battle of Britian planes hanging from the ceiling in my
room.

My wife knew about this, and just before Christmas last, we were at a
hobby shop that had these model kits for sale. Now, bear in mind, I
haven't built one of these for 26 or more years. So this was truely an
emotional blast from the past - my Dad and I used to build these
together. Never flew them, always static models.

The Kit in question:

Plans laid out on Foamboard, covered with Wax Paper to protect it:
