40K flyers

40K flyers - coming soon?

So Beasts of War had a vid cast last night about the new 40K flyers that are supposed to be coming out in June 2012. Hmmmm......

Space Marine Stormtalon… the Necron Doom & Night Scythes… plus the new Ork Biltza-Bommer, Dakkajet and Burna-Bommer!

Ork fighter/bomber: not one but 3 vehicles, maybe 2 kits.

Dakkajet: BS2, AV10, fast skimmer, supersonic, aerial assault, strafing run. (BS3 Vs all except jump and skimmers) Fighter ace upgrade gives BS3 against everything. During Waaaghh may get to fire twice? 3x TL A2 dakkaguns.

Burna-bomma: BS2, AV10, same rules as jet, burna bomb - essentially scorcha dropped during movement that ignores cover. Also has grot gunner. Pic of blitza-bommer version

Space Marine Stormtalon gunship - 130 pts!

Not a troop carrier, BS4, AV11, fast skimmer, supersonic, aerial assault, TLAC/TLHB as standard, TLHBs swapout for lascannons/typhoons. Skyhammer missile launchers, S7, AP4, H3 60". Ceramite plating, deep strike. Special rule - escort craft - attach to deep striking/reserve unit and will turn up 6" away. Hover-strike - can turn into a skimmer for a turn, can't move but gets +1 BS. Pic:

And lastly, the Necron one (no details known so far).

My Orks are jumping up and down in happyness at all the thoughts of teeff.

Apocalypse game - 11 March 2012

So a very enjoyable Apocalypse game was played in Tokai on the 11th March. Scenarios was mostly used from of the Forgeworld books. It’s a central area defended with a force. The attacking forces come from either end, and have approximately double the defenders total. In our case, as defenders, we have 8000 points.

On an interesting note, the Leman Russ and Basilisks fired (in the last round) 26 die rolls at the Titan. Not a single 6. I might say something about Karma slapping opponent around, but hey, use it, don’t use it.

Awesome game, awesome company, day playing Wargames. Nice.

A new project.....

Now, to my mind, if you're a middle-aged Wargamer, who plays multiple systems, at some point in your life, you want to get / aquire / buy / hold-onto-with-both-hands a Warhammer 40K Titan.
Getting a Forgeworld Titan is a VAST financial outlay. My wife and I's 8th wedding anniversary is coming up soon, so combined with months of saving and her loving grace, I got a Titan. Yip, a genuine, real (as in not scratchbuilt) honest to goodness Warhound Titan. The link to what a completed and assembled one looks like: Forgeworld Titans

What REALLY amazed me (apart from the obvious fact it's a Titan), was the speed at which it arrived. I ordered it on a Saturday night (they said would only process it on Monday as they don't work weekends).
Monday - I get an e-mail saying it's being processed.
Tuesday - money is reserved on Credit Card
Wednesday - money comes off Credit Card
Thursday - comes and goes.
Friday - I get a call from UPS saying they've got a delivery for me. Turns out this is the titan. According to the Manifest, it left Nottingham on Thursday. Yip, 24 hours for a parcel from dispatch in Nottingham to Cape Town South Africa. Now THAT's quick.

So, my project for 2010 is going to be making a Titan. Don't expect any updates around it until Jan 2010, as too many other things on the go at the moment.
